The University of Technology, Sydney hosted a forum on indigenous knowledge and biodiversity in India and Australia from 1-3 August 2012 in Sydney, Australia. Staff of the United Nations University - Institute of Advanced Studies Traditional Knowledge Initiative participated in the event.

The forum was a unique bilateral gathering between India and Australia on the issue of indigenous knowledge and biodiversity. It will compare the impact of biodiversity and intellectual property law and policy on indigenous knowledge and biodiversity management in Australia and India, and address how the implementation and operation of relevant laws affects the rights and interests of indigenous people.
