TK & International Policy Making
This project focuses on research and training to facilitate the participation and empowerment of TK holders in relevant policy processes. Initial efforts are focussed on information and policy analysis for indigenous and local communities on emerging issues in TK discussions in international fora.
The TK Bulletin provides regular reviews of TK issues in the global arena including discussions at relevant international fora (such as the World Intellectual Property Organization - Inter-governmental Committee on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore). In collaboration with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), this service is being expanded to develop a peer-to-peer subscription list providing subscribers the opportunity to share news and announcements with other list members.
A TK Simple Video Series will be developed, focusing on the relevance of TK to policy issues debated globally. The 5 – 10 min short video presentations will explain basic TK concepts, products and services in plain language. The short format will enable multi-language production and hosting on video-sharing sites such as You Tube for increased global appeal and accessibility.
